Battle at the Border Tournament: At Blaine, led by individual champions Jessie Lopez (103-pounds), Jerry Contreras (171-pounds) and Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament Alec Bird (215-pounds), Everett finished second in the 20-team field at the Battle at the Border Tournament. Bird, a defending 3A state champion, won the award voted on by the coaches of the schools, and defeated Blaine's Jeremy Holdans, a second-place finisher in the 2A tournament last year. Blaine, the host team, finished first, 14 points ahead of Everett. The Seagulls had two second-place finishers — Jack Forrest at 125-pounds and Levi Carroll (285-pounds) — and four wrestlers finish third.
